Trees are so important, improving the health of our environment by cleaning the air. They are a crucial factor in fighting climate change, absorbing nearly 40% of all Co2 produced by us, trapping pollutants, and releasing oxygen. They assist in preventing soil erosion and flooding whilst providing shade and shelter for our wildlife. Additionally, trees improve mental health, reduce stress, and create a sense of calm.
How do Tree Surgeons Help the Environment?
Tree surgeons play a vital role in our modern-day society in protecting our ecosystem as tree surgery is the process of maintaining the good health and longevity of our trees, hedges, and shrubs. This includes everything from pruning and tree canopy reductions to disease diagnosis, occasionally resulting in removal because of wind damage, end of life or for safety reasons. Sometimes a tree survey may be required to provide a detailed report on the condition of a tree. Tree surgeons (or Arborists) must have a strong knowledge of tree biology to maintain the care. They must also be able to secure commercial property insurance and have extensive training and knowledge to safely operate the specialist equipment, at height and in all weathers.
Tree Preservation
The purpose of the tree surgeon is to retain the existence and improve the health of our trees, ensuring the safe removal of dead, decaying matter. In addition, our role involves the planting of new trees.
Before any tree work is carried out, we make consultation with the local Borough Council to determine whether there is a tree preservation order in place. If this is the case we make application, on your behalf, for suitable considered works, complying with the council’s recommendations.
Expertrees Carbon Footprint
Expertrees are keen to increase our corporate social responsibility through making an impact on climate change having taken measures to reduce our carbon footprint by:
- Carefully planning all journeys
- Using fully biodegradable chain oil in all our machinery and a particularly pure form of two stroke petrol that reduces emissions.
- Aiming to use the latest machinery to reduce the amount of emissions emitted whilst also making work more efficient
- Regularly servicing vehicles and machinery to ensure maximum fuel efficiency and performance.
Expertrees and Recycling
Expertrees care about the environment and are keen to increase our corporate social responsibility through making an impact on climate change. We recycle 100% of the waste we take away (registered Environmental Agency waste carriers), professionally managing a sustainable process to create a productive, healthy, and biodiverse method of heating for use as:
- woodchip and reprocessed green waste supplied for biomass usage, a renewable electrical energy source.
- seasoned/kiln dried firewood – an efficient environmentally friendly renewable energy resource with a log moisture of less than 25%, compliant with the governments clean air requirements
Animal Habitat Care
We are pleased to support wildlife conservation and many of the animals and their habitats which we encounter are protected by law. Guidelines set out in the Wildlife and countryside Act 1981 and Countryside rights of way Act 2000 (CROW) give necessary protection to bats, badgers and nesting birds to name but a few.
We promote the creation of woodpiles to encourage the habitat of hedgehogs, mice, mosses, lichens and fungi, as well as many insects, and are happy to fit bat boxes at request to continue the biodiversity of our environment.
